Welcome to FrankProphet.com.
I've eschewed all remarks of "under construction" and "unfinished." We'll just say that you're at
the evolving home of Frank Prophet, Frank Prophet & Poor White, The Matthew Twenty Four
Extravaganza and other ongoing and arcane projects. You're hearing a new tune, composed
in Istanbul, which is in its nascent stage. The sample is from Âsik Veysel's classic tune
"Dostlar Beni Hatirlasin." The tune, "Sivas Ankara Yolu Azapli Bir Yoldur" (roughly, "The
Sivas-Ankara Road Is A Hard Road To Travel"), is inspired of, borrowed from and assisted
by the great folk poet and saz master.
This incarnation is a beginning on the tune, and I took the liberty to sample a bit. A peculiar
thing happened while recording it. I'd decided to mic my record player as it played "Dostlar..."
Just in case anyone should have ruffled feathers over it, I'll mention that you can purchase
a tremendous double disc of Veysel from Kalan Music.
Anyway, I recorded the written version of "Sivas..." and it coincidentally synched with
"Dostlar..." Hand to God, it was unplanned. I'd only wanted the introduction, the poem,
and then on with the song. To my pleasure and surprise, they were nearly dancing together,
so I mixed and mastered them to give you what you're hearing.
O, yes, about "giving" you the song. That is my desire, though I haven't figured out a way
to make the tunes downloadable. Once I do, I'll make sure they are to everyone at no charge.
At this point I might mention to people visiting the site for the first time that "Cerrillos Suite"
is streaming on the page sharing the album title. I have thought often of re-recording everything
on there; however, after listening to the songs on an iPod for the first time, I've decided they
aren't likely to get a whole lot better than they were at the moment they were recorded... many
of them were cut very shortly after being written, which might make them the best version
my fingers are capable of, regardless of the audio quality. In any event, if you should wish to
have "Cerrillos" or anything else I've made, just give me an email and I'll send the songs to you.
Peace and love. F.
