READY WHEN THE ROLL IS CALLED...

Welcome to the virtual dwelling space of Frank Prophet. Here you'll find whatever information is deemed sufficient about Frank, as well as information and updates on the ever-changing, many named but often nameless full band.

To those who have visited before, there are a number of new songs up on the Anathemas page. Some of these are from a while back, transferred by the enigmatic Gilpin from cassette recordings in Carlsbad, NM, Kansas City and Lawrence... maybe even a little Texas in there. At none of these little sessions was there a shortage of booze or other inspirational aides.

To those who haven't, proceed to the Cerrillos Suite page, where you can download the album for free. The only catch is clicking on the title, and, should you use Safari or Firefox, it will likely open up in Quicktime. Seems easier for you Windows users out there, where the tune will save in WM. Recently, a few songs have been uploaded to blip.fm, which is probably easier than from the site here. No objections from me on that.

A short Turkish language page has been added for my Turkish friends and family.

I've been working on a few things, and rather than hold out, as is my wont, I think I'll just put up a few of the home recordings. One of the new ones, Blues for Mahmoud Darwish, is playing right now. Better now than later, really, while the story is still being manufactured here in the U.S. media. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims onboard the Mavi Marmara and attached vessels attempting to bring much-needed aid to the needlessly suffering people in Gaza. If you'd like to download the song, just click on the title. Feel free to disseminate this and any other song from here.

blues for mahmoud darwish (30 May 2010)

how do you make peace with the madman

that’s living in your house?

breaking all the dishes while you sleep,

and you can’t kick him out.

you can’t wash the sea or the orchards

or even save your horse.

how do you make peace if when you ask him

it only gets much worse?

it always gets much worse.

when’s the day of judgment coming when

will the judges be the judged?

they say they’ve made this green, but verdancy

was fertilized in blood.

you ask the tribe to recognize

that as a tribe we’re one. nazim says:

build your palace on the ground

but look at what they’ve done.

look at what they’ve done.

any day now it will come down,

the time has passed for waiting, throwing rocks.

hunger doesn’t go away

when you see ships are waiting on the docks.

it doesn’t take a reckoning of spirits

for the water to avenge.

the madman has gone outside the house

and we won’t ever let him in. never again.
